A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
Under a new licensing agreement announced today, Star Wars fans and collectors will see several new lines of collectibles in 2008 from Diamond Select Toys. Partnering with Lucas Licensing, a division of Lucasfilm Ltd., DST will design and manufacture action figures of varying sizes along with bust, figural and feature banks, among other categories based on the rich and diverse Star Wars franchise!
The Star Wars Ultimate Quarter Scale line will include Star Wars characters from all six feature films. Each figure will include cloth outfits and accessories as well as an authentic sound clip from the massive Star Wars franchise. This line of hyper-detailed and super poseable figures will begin this summer with Luke Skywalker – Jedi Knight and will continue to include other fan favorites such as Han Solo, Darth Maul and Obi Wan Kenobi without neglecting Star Wars’ rich cast of supporting characters.
Star Wars fans have more to be excited by though; including a parallel line of one-third scale roto-cast figures which is also projected for a summer launch. These twenty-four inch figures will combine highly detailed sculpts with limited articulation to create a range of characters and effects from the Star Wars saga, creating the first such line in the history of the franchise.
Additionally, DST will expand into new categories including collectible banks based on fan-favorite characters, vehicles and scenes with a variety of features. New lines of bust-style banks and unarticulated figural banks will begin in 2008, blending detailed action-packed sculpts with traditional bank designs. A companion line of deluxe banks will include everything from sound and voice effects to coin-activated motion features such as lightsaber attacks and Force techniques!
With Star Wars joining the likes of the best-selling Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Planet of the Apes and Transformers, be on the lookout for the very best in sci-fi toys and collectibles on display during this year’s Toy Fair!
